As a child, Maximiliano grew up working on his family's grain farm and did not have access to education. At 24, he married María Molina and began working as a day laborer on coffee farms to learn the trade. Meanwhile, by growing and selling corn on his father's land, he was able to save up to buy his own farm to grow coffee. Over time, he was able to expand his land to 2.8 hectares, with 1.4 hectares dedicated to coffee and the rest for vegetables and other crops. During the harvest season, El Izote provides new opportunities for day laborers who may have their own coffee farms some day!

The coffee is ground on our top of the line Mahlkönig EK43, which produces spectacular grind evenness and helps your coffee extract more fully and consistently.

Shipping Schedule

We roast on Monday and Tuesday and ship USPS priority. Orders placed after Tuesday will be filled immediately if we have the coffee on hand. Otherwise, your order will be roasted & shipped the following week.
