This year, we were fortunate enough to acquire three lots of coffee from Huila,
Colombia. Coffees grown in Huila exhibit similar acidity and fruit to those grown in
Kenya due to the similar soil composition. The nutrient-dense soil surrounding the
volcanic mountain ranges in Huila, like the volcanoes found in Kenya and the
surrounding area, give the coffee its “signature” bright and acidic tasting notes.
This particular lot is another Caturra from a neighboring farm to Mi Esperanza—
owned by the Cuellar-Garzon family. The farm, called La Pradera, is a highelevation
farm at 1,880 meters above sea level and is owned and processed by a
husband and wife duo who are very passionate about their coffee and practice.
Region | Huila |
Varieties | Caturra |
Elevation | 1880 m |
