Marvin Lopez has grown coffee on his farm, Piedra Azul (“Blue Stone”), since 2005. Piedra Azul was built on sustainable practices such as making and using its own compost from coffee pulp. They also reuse residual water from the coffee process by cleaning it with sedimentation pits and natural filters. Lopez’s commitment to sustainability comes from the ethos that caring for the environment is important for the future of coffee. This washed Caturra varietal was born from this intersection of Lopez’s quality and sustainability efforts.
