Prior to 2010, the Querocoto district in Cajamarca, Peru was better known for its production of potatoes than it was for specialty coffee. However, in late 2013, a small band of coffee farmers founded a quality focused cooperative they called Cooperativa Agraria Rutas del Inca. Today the cooperative works throughout 27 local communities at dizzying elevations up to 2400 meters; that’s 1.5 miles!
