Santa Barbara, Honduras is home to many family farms producing small lots of exquisite coffee. Among them are names you may recognize— Jeovany Lara and Dionisio Hernandez, whose coffees we’ve featured recently. This lot comes from Belarmino Contreras, who was a high scorer in the 2017 Cup of Excellence competition. Belarmino’s success is thanks to his dedication to the details: picking only ripe cherries, milling on well-calibrated equipment, and closely monitoring fermentation. This lot is comprised of a single uncommon variety, parainema. In the cup we’re tasting blood orange, bosc pear and caramel.
